Who is Adam Woodyatt?

Adam Brinley Woodyatt is a famous English professional actor. He is recognized for his role as Ian Beale in the BBC soap opera EastEnders. Together with Jane Slaughter, he is the show’s longest-serving cast member, having appeared in the role from the first episode in 1985.

Woodyatt appeared on stage at the National Theatre in Tom Stoppard’s play On the Razzle at the age of 13. After graduating from Sylvia Young Theatre School, he appeared in the BBC’s children’s drama series The Baker Street Boys (1983). For a short time, he put his acting career to a halt and served as a butcher in Wales, prior to joining the cast of BBC soap opera EastEnders.

He did not expect to stay more than one year but has become the longest-serving male cast member in EastEnders. Together with Letitia Dean, Gillian Taylforth, and Jane Slaughter, who plays Sharon Watts, Kathy Beale, and Tracey, Adam is one of only four members of the original cast currently in EastEnders. However, except from a break in 2020, he is the only one except Slaughter to have performed endlessly throughout the show’s run. His longevity was honored at the British Soap Awards, in 2013, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award for playing Ian Beale.

2015- present

He has additionally appeared as a guest personality on various BBC game shows and charity fundraisers, such as A Question of Sport, Robots Wars, and Children in Need. Adam portrayed the henchman of the Wicked Queen in a pantomime production of Snow White at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre in 2015.

The comedy singer Gavin Osborn launched a track titled ”Adam Woodyatt”, on April 24, 2015, with the lines ”Imagine how it feels being Ian Beale”. Woodyatt appeared on Celebrity Masterchef in 2019. Later it was announced in August 2020, that he would be leaving on an ”extended break” from appearing in EastEnders. He was announced as a late entrant on the twenty-first series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, joining alongside Coronation Street actor Simon Gregson.
