Besides an episode of the TV show, “Highlander”, she did not act in her mother tongue, English until she was cast by Disney as the lead in 102 Dalmatians (2000) alongside Glenn Close, Gerard Depardieu, and her future husband, Loan Gruffudd. In 2001, she shot Best of Both Worlds (2001) for the BBC, in which she played Diane, an air stewardess who is a wife and mother, who begins a relationship with a man in Italy where she flies three times a week and eventually marries him and embarks on a double life.

Next, she was cast by Mel Smith alongside James Cromwell and Vince Vaughn as the lead in Blackball (2003). After appearing in the film, in 2003, she moved to Los Angeles, and since then she has appeared in both television and film such as; The Mentalist, Brothers & Sisters, Lost, and Grimm. She also had a recurring turn on The Vampire Diaries as the villainous Esther and The Originals.
