FRED AGBEDI’S GLOBAL FOOTPRINT GROWS AS HE HEADS TO THE U.S FOR HIGH-LEVEL LEADERSHIP ADDRESS
Abuja, Nigeria
Thursday, July 3rd, 2025.
Rt. Hon. (Chief) Fred Agbedi, Ph.D., a respected statesman and federal lawmaker representing the Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, is set to deliver a keynote lecture at the Izon National Congress-Americas (INC-A) Convention, scheduled to be held from July 4 to 6 in Houston, Texas, United States.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Special Duties and Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus in the House, Dr. Fred Agbedi’s invitation to speak at the high-profile gathering underscores his deep-rooted commitment to purposeful leadership, community empowerment, and ethnic identity consolidation.
The annual INC-A convention brings together key stakeholders, professionals, and community leaders of Ijaw (Izon) descent from across the globe. Dr. Fred Agbedi, in his lecture, will be addressing the imperatives of visionary leadership, development-driven governance, and stronger ties between the diaspora and homeland for sustainable growth within the Ijaw nation.
Agbedi’s participation in the event further cements his rising stature as a bridge-builder and pragmatic leader, whose influence is steadily gaining international traction.
CHAMPIONING NATIONAL PRIORITIES BEFORE DEPARTURE.
Before departing for the U.S., Rt. Hon. Fred Agbedi demonstrated unwavering dedication to national duties and cultural values. On Tuesday, July 1, he played a central role in the public presentation and launch of the book, “The Philosophy of the Modern Traditional Institution”, authored by HRH Dr. Famous Eseduwo. The event, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, brought together traditional rulers, academics, policymakers, and thought leaders to deliberate on the evolving relevance of traditional institutions in contemporary governance.
Earlier the same day, Fred Agbedi actively participated in a crucial session of the House Ad-Hoc Committee on the Reactivation of the Baro River Port in Niger State. The committee is tasked with evaluating the viability of revitalising the strategic inland port, aimed at boosting economic activities in the North-Central region and decongesting maritime traffic in southern seaports.
A STATESMAN OF VISION AND ACTION
Rt. Hon. Fred Agbedi’s recent engagements reflect his hallmark leadership qualities—depth of foresight, responsiveness to constituents’ and national needs, and unwavering commitment to development-driven governance. His strategic involvement in both legislative reforms and grassroots mobilisation has earned him wide acclaim as one of the most effective and people-centred legislators in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.
As he travels to Houston to share his thoughts on leadership, Agbedi carries not just the aspirations of the Ijaw people but also the hopes of a nation seeking purposeful governance and inclusive development.
