Career beginnings: 2003-2008
Park became recognized after she portrayed the younger version of Choi Ji-woo’s character in the famous Korean drama Stairway to Heaven in 2003. She increased her filmography list via supporting roles in various television series, the most recognized being as a rebellious teenager in the drama special Very Merry Christmas in 2004. Later she has cast in her first adult leading role in the South Korean-Japanese melodrama Tree of Heaven (2006). She received a lot of praise from critics for her performance. The series aired in Japan, hence giving Park more exposure abroad.
Shin-hye got her movie breakout in the film Evil Twin (2007), a summer horror flick. She played two roles: one as the main character, and the other as the ghost of the main character’s sister, who haunts the other sister following her death. Park then played her initial antagonist role in the romantic comedy series Prince Hours, a spin-off to Princess Hours (2006). Also, she starred in the weekend drama Kimcheed Radish Cubes as the female lead. Park received more popularity after starring as a cross-dressing heroine in the romance comedy music drama You’re Beautiful (2009) together with Jang Keun-suk. Although it got average ratings in South Korea, it received a great following and earned high ratings in Japan. Park then released the tracks ”Lovely Day” and ”Without Words” for the drama’s original soundtrack. She starred in the low-budget romantic comedy movie Cyrano Agency in 2010. 2012
Park won the Popular Asian Star award at the LeTV Movie and Drama Awards. She was then cast in the third season of the KBS drama special, Don’t Worry, I’m a Ghost in 2012 and it broadcast on July 15. For her performance, she won the Best One-Act Special Actress Award at the 2012 KBS Drama Awards. She joined the reality show Music and Lyrics the same year, collaborating with singer Yoon Gun to compose a song called ”I Think of You”. Park was cast in the third installment of tvN’s ”Flower boy” series titled My Cute Guys together with actor Yoon Shi-yoon, premiering in January 2003.

Park featured in the comedy-drama movie, Miracles in cell No. 7 in 2013.
