PenCom Assures Pensioners Of Payment of pension, gratuity arrears.

The Pension Commission has assured pensioners of its commitment to ensuring payment of arrears of pension and gratuity. The new Federal Commissioner Inspectorate, Chief Sam Uwandu gave the assurance while speaking with newsmen in Owerri on Thursday.
Uwandu said the approved N758billion bond by President Bola Tinubu will offset all the accumulated arrears and assured pensioners that they will soon begin to receive payment. According to him, PenCom is set to offset all the arrears and begin payment of 100 percent pension to pensioners.

He said pensioners will now receive 100 percent payment as against the 75 percent monthly payment.
Uwandu said President Tinubu was committed to offset the arrears adding that the approved bond will clear them once it matures to be transferred.
He disclosed that the Director General of PenCom, Ms Omolola Oloworaran was working hard to ensure all the grey areas were cleared to ensure smooth payment.
The chartered Accountant said “hopefully by the end of the month, the money will mature and then payment will begin. First we will start with the arrears and soon retirees will start receiving their money.

Uwandu called on pensioners to exercise more patience as the payment was set to begin before year end.
