This new religion is a mixture of three old religions – Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. This religion is named after Prophet Abraham. The common things of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism are included in this religion.
The New Age burst into public consciousness in a buzz of media attention around crystals, reincarnation, and channels in the 1980s, The New Age movement is an extremely eclectic conglomeration of beliefs and practices that includes channeling, crystal healing, new versions of shamanism and a variety of therapies and techniques designed to “transform” the individual into a “higher consciousness.” The movement as a whole optimistically presumes that the world has entered, or is on the verge of entering, a “New Age” (sometimes referred to as the “Age of Aquarius”) of unprecedented spiritual possibilities.
New religion methods that differ from the old religion
The new religion has its own unique scriptures to reinterpret existing texts, utilizing a range of older elements. They frequently claim that these are not new, but rather had been forgotten truths that are only now being revived
Some NRMs promote celibacy, the state of voluntarily being unmarried, sexually abstinent, or both.
In some Buddhists, New religion celibacy is practiced mostly by older women who become nuns. Some people join nee religion and practice celibacy in order to move beyond previous sexual problems or bad experiences.
Leadership and Succession
Many New religious movements are founded and led by a charismatic leader, the death of any religion’s founder represents a significant moment in its history. Over the months and years following its leader’s death, the movement can die out, fragment into multiple groups, consolidate its position, or change its nature to become something quite different than what its founder intended.
Common features of New religious movements are:
- Relatively new compared to the religions they emanate from. …
- They are all religious in their orientation has they offer answers to ultimate questions about human life.
- There is often tension between the NRM and the society they operate in.
- The group is focused around a central figure who is a prophet-founder “chosen” by God to deliver a special message to the modern world that is not found in the Bible, has not been known to genuine Christians throughout all church history, or to recover the teaching of the ancient church that has been lost through the centuries.
- New religion followers think of its belief system as the last bastion of God’s work on earth.
In conclusion, Christians must recognize that our spiritual enemy is not the new religion but, rather, Satan (2 Co 11:12-15).
