Christian Oyakhilome (also known as “Pastor Chris”) (born 7 December 1963) is the president and founder of LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Theology and ministry

Oyakhilome’s ministry hosts gatherings in his home country of the United Kingdom, the United States, Ghana, as well as South Africa, and has “healing school” sessions in South Africa, Lagos, and Canada. The first person to establish a Christian-oriented television network that reaches out to Africa and the other continents. He also hosted the biggest single-night celebration by a single night in Nigeria in 2006, with 3.5 million people attending “Good Friday Miracle Night”. The Oyakhilome hosts Higher Life conferences in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, UK, the US, and Canada and was the organizer of an event called the Night of Bliss South Africa event at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. Oyakhilome also has an International School of Ministry, which hosted one of the Ministers’ Network conferences in 2016 that had thousands of ministers from 145 countries in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Oyakhilome is the founder of an online prayer site that utilizes social media platforms to deliver messages to Christians in various countries. He had more than 1.2 million users on Twitter as of 2013. He also had more than 1.9 million on Facebook and also runs a mobile messenger known as KingsChat. Oyakhilome has also been the creator of the number one [citation everyday prayer book “Rhapsody of Realities”. In the year 2015, Oyakhilome was given an honorary doctorate by Ambrose Alli University and Benson Idahosa University. In the year 2017, Oyakhilome, in partnership with Benny Hinn, created the Christian cable channel LoveWorld USA.

Oyakhilome has hosted numerous online programs, including five editions of the Global Day of Prayer, featuring Pastor Benny, the fifth edition running from 26 to 27 March 2021, with participants from all countries of the world. The first edition that took place on 27 March 2020 saw attendees from all over the world attending. There are other programs like ‘Your loveworld specials featuring Pastor Chris that featured various seasons and phases and recorded the connection between every period. Healing Streams Live Healing Services Healing Streams Live Healing Services recorded multiple numbers, including its first session together with Pastor Chris in March 2021, recording at the time of the 12th and the 14th. The previous Healing Streams online services were conducted by senior pastors from The Healing School of LoveWorld.

Personal life

Oyakhilome was born on December 7, 1963, in Edo State, Nigeria, the son of elder T.E as well as Angelina Oyakhilome.

In 1991, Oyakhilome married Anita Ebhodaghe. There were two children. Alyssa Ebodaghe divorced on April 9th, 2014 in the Central Family Court in London. Following their divorce, they also decided to share the custody of two kids. The couple divorced in February of 2016, after twenty-five years of the union on account of “Unreasonable Behavior.” On October 6, 2018, Oyakhilome’s daughter, Sharron Oyakhilome got married Phillip Frimpong; a Ghanaian man. Her mother was reported to be absent.

In 2011 Forbes estimated the personal wealth of Oyakhilome to be between $30 to $50 million.

Philanthropic work

Oyakhilome is the director of Oyakhilome is the director of the Inner City Mission Project, which helps orphans and indigent children living in inner cities across several countries. The project is run under the auspices and supervision of the Chris Oyahkilome Foundation. Chris Oyahkilome Foundation is a charity that helps the weak and the disadvantaged in inner cities. The foundation provides relief supplies to countries in times of disaster occur and collaborates with parastatals of the government to enhance social well-being.

The Chris Oyakhilome Foundation is one of the main supporters of the inner-city orphanage homes located in Africa operated by Pushaboo an organization responsible for taking support mothers and infants across the globe.

Other organizations that are supported through Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International (COFI) include The Volunteer Medical Corps, Trauma Care International Foundation, Inner City Mission for Children, Future Africa Leaders Foundation, and the Bible for All Mission.

Honors

Oyakhilome holds an honorary doctorate of religion from Benson Idahosa University.

He graduated from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in Nigeria, where he received an architecture degree and an honorary Doctor of Science award.

Controversies

Oyakhilome’s comments on marriage have been a source of controversy. He has been the subject of intense critics by Nigerians through social media for his beliefs about gender equality.

A Facebook post referenced an excerpt from the clergyman’s message entitled “Who is a husband and what is his role? ” In the message, husbands were described by the term “masters” as opposed to “male partners”.

The ex-wife of Oyakhilome’s former wife, Anita, on 8 February 2016 concluded her divorce from Oyakhilome and slashed the last name of his for “Obhodaghe”.

Oyakhilome is also the subject of criticism from The Treatment Action Campaign for his belief in belief healing in faith as an alleged cure for HIV/AIDS. His dedication to the Rhapsody of Realities has claimed that tumors will go away if they are they are rebuked.

Oyakhilome was accused of preaching the gospel of prosperity and bribing his followers to earn money. He claims that those who support his cause will be blessed with wealth and health.

Oyakhilome also believes in YouTube-generated conspiracy theories that claim to be the “New World Order”.

On March 20, 2021, his TV network Loveworld was punished with a fine of PS125,000 in fines by British regulators Ofcom because it violated broadcasting regulations by airing “inaccurate and potentially harmful claims about coronavirus”.

Oyakhilome has written many books including Rhapsody of Realities, distributed each month across several countries.
